In 1925, Simmons introduced the Beautyrest® mattress, a product that soon became the toast of fashion, celebrity and glamour. Everyone from Henry Ford and Thomas Edison to Eleanor Roosevelt and Dorothy Lamour praised the virtues of the Pocketed Coil® springs – and the sleep that came with it. In the 1950s, ads showed that even circus elephants could take comfort on a Beautyrest® mattress. As the awards and plaudits rolled in, Simmons responded by constantly innovating: adding strength in heavy gauge steel, luxury in high performance foams, comfort in elegant pillow tops and support in re-engineered foundations. In 1995, the now famous Bowling Ball™ mattress demonstration captured the interest of a whole new generation. Today, the Beautyrest® line continues to make history with a range of new and improved Beautyrest® models for every lifestyle, highlighted with the addition of premium foam layers and the creation of the luxurious Beautyrest Black® product line.
